(Photo - bike path in early spring)

May, 2005

Well, it's been a while...Well, it's been a while...

Sorry about that!

I took this picture on one of the rare nice days we had earlier this spring. It was one of those days I just had to get out and enjoy, so I walked up to the bike trail by our house. A warm breeze blew lightly against my face, the light from the setting sun cast its shadows across the path. It was one of those perfect days that prints itself in your memory.

I have to tell you a funny thing about this bike trail. It is an abandoned railroad line that cuts through the woods, about 3 miles from here to Lowell Park. There is a parking lot up at the start a few blocks from here.

Here’s the funny thing. Some government agency apparently mandated that there be a special handicapped parking spot....

...for a HIKING and BIKING trail!

How goofy is that?! Isn’t that why you would come here? To hike and bike???? I am thinking if you can’t handle walking the few extra feet you might have to park from the beginning of the trail, maybe you had better rethink your recreational activity for the day.

Government regulations gone mad.

Anyway...

It really has been a while since I have put up anything new, and I feel bad about that! It's not that I have been lying around reading magazines and ordering CDs... much. Mostly I have been working on an actual paying project (I lose my senses every once in a while and take paying jobs. What can I be thinking???). And it seems lately I have been battling some particularly pesky personal demons. Those would be the ones who are being paid overtime and lavish bonuses to convince me that I am a total screw-up and complete loser. They are doing a bang-up job. They all should get promotions! The hard part is fighting back when you know they are right.

Oh, and we have also been a bit preoccupied trying to parent five teenagers. Life has been an adventure, to say the least... relationship dramas, calls in the middle of the night, police visits for one reason or another, totaled vehicles... Nothing really serious, as things eventually turned out each time (so far!!!), but somehow, we never seem to get enough sleep.

Add to that; battling bank forecloser, utility cutoffs, and a house that is auditioning for “Extreme Makeover.” I had to replace my Sress-O-Meter with the large, industrial model. (See, I told you I was a complete screw up!)

Ah, the life lessons we are learning.

And maybe one of these days, if I live long enough, I’ll share what I have been learning. If you’re interested.

Speaking of “Extreme Makeover,” a week or so ago I got the “Extreme Makeover” bug and redesigned my whole “Finding Joy” section. Mostly just cosmetic surgery, but I am pleased.

Spring finally did arrive, and Dani and I made a trip out to the park near our home. It’s not too often we get to do that anymore either! I brought my cheap digital camera with me, and managed to get a few nice pictures. Missed It!

That’s about it. I hope to get back to the Bible Stories real soon.

So much to do, so little time!

May God bless you in amazing and wonderful ways!

I am thinking maybe we should take down our Christmas decorations.... the other day I discovered this in the sorry looking plastic wreath by our front door...
